THE WISDOM OF THE GOSPELS
FINDING THE PURPOSE OF LIFE
"Our hearts were made for you O Lord, and we will not find rest until they rest in you"
Man is Created to Know, Love, and Serve God and,
by this means, to save his soul; - for Eternal Life!
Everything else on the face of the earth
is created to help man attain this goal!
It follows that man must make use of all things and circumstances; - in so far as they assist him
in the attainment of this goal; - and he must rid himself of them in so far as they prove an obstacle!
Therefore, we must make ourselves indifferent to all created things and circumstances,
in so far as we are free to do so, and not breaching any of our God-given obligations!
Consequently, we must not prefer health to sickness, success to failure, riches to poverty,
a long life to a short life, comfort to trials or disappointment; - and the same holds true
for all of life's circumstances.
Our one desire and choice must be what is most conducive
to the purpose for which we were created!
Praise to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; who will dwell within us
to the extent that we abandon our earthly desires and concerns and put our trust, instead,
in the Wisdom and Merciful Love of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
(1) Who lived among us, unknown, for thirty years!
(2) Who sacrificed his life on a Cross; - for our sins!
(3) Who gave us Mary his mother, to be our mother!
(4) Who left us the Wisdom of the Gospels; and
(5) Who dwells with us today in the Holy Eucharist:
"The Sacrament of God's Love"
(The five "signs" at the front of nearly every Catholic Church.
1. A Statue of the man Jesus Christ.
2. A Crucifix and Altar of Sacrifice .
3. A statue of Mary, Mother of God
4. A Lectern where the Gospel is read
5 A tabernacle holding the Eucharist)
"WE WILL COME TO YOU; -AND MAKE OUR HOME IN YOU"
"LET THE MIND BE IN YOU THAT WAS ALSO IN JESUS CHRIST"
Eternal Father, I offer you, the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins,
and those of the whole world; -
And, in doing so, I also offer my own sufferings
and difficulties, in union with those of Christ,
and I offer them to you through the hands of
Mary, the Mother of the Church; -
and my Mother!
"I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE,
HE WHO FOLLOWS ME DOES NOT WALK IN DARKNESS,
BUT HE WILL HAVE THE LIGHT OF LIFE"
Here we have the reason we must look to "the Wisdom of the Gospels",
as Christ became a man and lived among us for thirty three years,
not only to redeem us; - but also to teach us!
So, it follows, we must Study His Life; -
Learn from Him; - and Imitate Him!
"LEARN FROM ME,
FOR I AM MEEK AND HUMBLE OF HEART,
AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOUL.
An active and deliberate acceptance of undesirable
circumstances that are wisely seen as part of God's plan.
Enduring such circumstances marks the person as externally weak,
but inwardly strong and resilient; - and a man of Faith, Prayer and Trust.
A virtue that allows the soul to accept the life circumstances
decreed for him by God; - and to live his life acknowledging God as his creator,
and generously embracing the God-given circumstances of his life, mindful always
that God is the creator, and he the creature.
is the man
who follows not
the 'wisdom' of the world,
nor lingers in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of unbelievers,
but whose delight is found in the Will of God,
and who ponders that Will day and night!
He is like a tree,
planted beside flowing water,
that yields its fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves will never fade!
All that he does will prosper,
not so the wicked; - not so!
like winnowed chaff,
shall be driven away by the wind
when the wicked are judged.
They shall not stand
nor find room among the blessed.
For the Lord
guards the way of the blessed,
but the way of the wicked
leads to doom!
